# Deployment Options

You can run DRAGEN in an Illumina-managed environment or on infrastructure you manage.

To go from choosing a platform to a first completed analysis, see [Getting Started](/dragen-v4.6/getting-started/quickstart.md).

## Illumina-managed

BioInsight Platform Core (Platform Core) and BaseSpace Sequence Hub (BSSH) run FPGA-accelerated DRAGEN for you. Choose a pipeline in an app, point it at data, and start an analysis — or run the same pipelines from the CLI or API (ideal for automation). There is no infrastructure to manage. You do not install DRAGEN or choose FPGA Mode versus Software Mode.

| Platform                                                               | Description                                                                                                                                                                                               |
| ---------------------------------------------------------------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| [Platform Core](/dragen-v4.6/reference/licensing/api_key_licensing.md) | Run FPGA-accelerated DRAGEN from apps, custom pipelines, CLI, or API, with no infrastructure to manage. Use the same secure, scalable platform to manage and interpret large volumes of multi-omics data. |
| BaseSpace Sequence Hub (BSSH) | Sequencer-to-cloud run management with push-button DRAGEN apps. Stream, store, and share sequencing data, then launch standard secondary analysis. |
| Sequencing instruments | Limited DRAGEN applications run onboard NovaSeq X Series, NextSeq 1000 and NextSeq 2000 Systems, and MiSeq i100 Series. |

## Customer-managed

On an Illumina DRAGEN server, in your own cloud account, or on HPC or commodity Linux, you install and run DRAGEN. Choose a compute mode based on the hardware you have.

{% hint style="success" %}
Both compute modes produce bit-exact output that is deterministic across thread counts and deployments.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://help.dragen.illumina.com/dragen-v4.6/overview/deployment-options.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
